CONTINUE TO THE PETITION!
11/27/2003 - Well It Has Started...
I appreciate your interest in my petition page, but I must decline your offer. This is a not a fansite for The Lord of the Rings, and yet while we do love the movies without hesitation, we feel that advertising for more LOTR commercialism stands right against what we're trying to accomplish with our petition. It is because of such acts of marketing and business that New Line decided to show only one showing of the Trilogy Tuesday Marathon in one theater per big city, scattered across the United States only. Because of efforts like ours, there are reports of showings opening up in other countries of the world. While most of our requests have still yet to be met, we feel that displaying advertising and marketing will defeat our purposes and discourage fans from trusting in our cause. The way this petition is growing, and the efforts being made in this petition's name, I would not be surprised if in the next week or two, we receive letters from New Line regarding this page, whether we should be shut down, or that they will inform us of their plans, being to open more theatres or not. I hope through this letter I was speaking for all of you LOTR fans who, as I, really want to see Hollywood and New Line step down a few notches from their level of commercialism and offer more of what the fans want. We, who sign this petition, want more showings of the LOTR marathon to open up in more theatres in more cities across the globe, so we may ALL enjoy the wonder of this epic movie trilogy.
Your servant,
