Dear Friends of California,
It is with a heavy heart that we say farewell to a true
golden state warrior, Huell Howser. Huell hosted California’s Gold, a tribute to California’s small, largely-unknown
treasurers; he also hosted California’s
Golden Parks, California’s Water, Visiting…with Huell Howser, Our Neighborhood,
The Bench, Road Trip, and California’s Golden Fairs, among others. Though born
in Tennessee, Huell brought his adopted home into our homes and hearts every
night, with insightful stories on Redwood trees, touching stories from
backwoods bars, or sharing personal moments with surfers and sun bathers. Yes,
from Yreka to Chula Vista, Huell saw it all, and made sure we did too.
Huell Howser was truly an historic figure in California
history, one worthy of the best tribute the best state can offer.
That is why were are petitioning to have the San Francisco
49ers football team wear “HH” decals on their helmets during this weekend’s NFC
Playoff game at Candlestick Park in one of Huell’s favorite CA cities, San Francisco.
This local recognition on a national stage serves as a proud way for
Californians to say thank you to our dearly departed, a man who did some much
for the great state.
So please, sign the petition and pass it along to your
friends. This would be a truly aaaaaaamazing sendoff for an historic California
treasure.
