Comments: The govenor should give JOhn a new trial so he can prove he's not guilty of the crime. I met John in 1989...his minister of records for several years...we married in 1992....devoriced in 2004 because he thought he would be exicuted...he's not guilty....

Comments: Ms. Brett, After 20 plus years of exemplary service in law enforcement, I was fired from my job as Postal Inspector. The agency claims it was because I improperly recorded an interview that was a result of my questioning the guilt of Mr. Spirko. It is a little hard to have a blemish like this on my employment record, but I know I did the right thing and I am impressed with the other law enforcement officers who have also spoken out. Thanks for continuing to seek justice in this case.

Comments: This man is innocent of the Betty Mottinger killing and should be granted a new trial. This is a travesty of justice.

Comments: I do ot believe John Spriko killed Betty Mottinger. A one time prison mate of his plus what I have read of his case tell me that he is innocent of that crime.

Comments: Just watched the Discovery Channel piece on this case. The case was a joke. If you can be convicted, as Mr. Spirko was, with such weak evidence, then nobody is safe from the possibility of wrongful imprisonment.

Comments: Do the right thing, and set this man free, after seeing the ID Discovery show with Paula Zahn it is clear that the Postal Inspector lied to wrongfully convict this innocent man. Yes, I saw he did wrong in the past, but he paid his debt to society. On behalf of wrongly convicted persons, due the right thing and free this man. I hope that he will be able to experience life one day.

Comments: I just watched the Paula Zahn coverage of this incident and was outraged. I think that although Mr. Spirko was extremely stupid in starting down the path he did with regards to the original crime, stupidity is not a crime in and of itself. I found the interview with the postal ínspector' by Paula Zahn to lead me to question his honesty, after all no tapes and no notes of the alleged confession. I would also question the original prosecutor to see if he was even told of the ''confession'' before the trial began. I can not be certain of whether or not Mr. Spirko was innocent or guilty of the original crime as I was not there, but I am certain he deserves a new trial to have a fair due process.
