If he is willing to put his life on the line to prove he didn't commit the crime and live with whatever happens in the re-trial, what does the prosecutor's office have to worry about if they are "correct in the first place" Can the State of Ohio live with itself if it is wrong Can that prosecutorFlag

Name: M.Griffiths on Jan 14, 2008Comments: The law says "beyond reasonable doubt " .The Governer says that doubt exists so it's either a re-trial or a release with an apology and recompense. The Governer seems to have his tits in a wringer over this but it's not him thats locked up in prison is itFlag

IF, John Spirko were involved in any way in Betty Mottinger's abduction and murder, which he's not, his DNA would be part of the DNA evidence tested. You've been testing DNA evidence for years and try as you might, you still can't make him guilty. You've stolen 26 years of a man's life. Have you read the news Other states are releasing men from Death Row daily based on lack of DNA evidence and you, Governor Strickland need to do the same. At the absolute least, you need to give the man a new trial. You say you're afraid to have John Spirko on the streets I'm more afraid of you on the streets in in control of the State of Ohio perpetrating injustice daily. I demand that you do what's right for the State of Ohio. It's time for you to step up Governor Strickland.Flag

Name: Debra Barton on Jan 14, 2008Comments: How typical of Ohio, is this They sneak in the news about his sentence being reduced, on the very day that the media are bound up with Kenny Richey's return to Scotland. What is this, guys Hoping no-one notices or cares enough, in the light of Richey's release Are we all supposed to be thankful that you have changed an INNOCENT man's sentence to a slow death, instead of a faster one This decision was nothing to do with Spirko, but solely a political one - and a cowardly one, at that. If there was 'reasonable doubt' in a Court of Law the jury wouldn't convict, so this should be a retroactive release - ACQUITTAL.Flag
