Responsible transparency

Petition: For Transparent and Responsible Governments and Banks

We propose two commitments, as a demonstration of good will by governments and banks before the 30th of March 2009:

1. Governments will explain where the money being injected in the financial system comes from, whom it benefits and at what cost. They will publish this thru internet – in an accessible and understandable page – all the operations of injection of funds into the financial system, indicating the beneficiaries, the interest rates, conditions and devolution terms.

2. Governments and Banks will publish in internet a sworn declaration of the income received annually that comes from foreign debt from countries of the South and the income accumulated in the last 20 years. They will also publish a sworn declaration that states that they do not operate of have seats in fiscal paradises.

In the case that these two commitments are not complied with at the proposed date, we commit to the application of any of the 3 following nonviolent measures:

1. Declare ourselves fiscal objectors and deduct a volunteer quantity from our income taxes, to dedicate it to civilian campaigns in favor of transparency and recounting of public accounts in favor of the application of the Objectives of the Millennium.

2. Not vote those parties who do not promote or apply in an effective manner, the responsible transparency that we are proposing.

3. Withdraw our deposits from those Banks and Savings Banks, that before that date have not published the sworn declarations on the income from interest of external debt and that they do not work in fiscal paradises, and will transfer our deposits to those banks committed to ethical and transparent management of those monies.

Without Transparency we cannot cooperate.
