When asking the town about public transportation, I was told to do a petition. Public transportation is extremely important in a community. Especially one with a population nearing 25,000 and continuing to grow at a rapid pace. With almost all amenities on one side of a town it makes it difficult for someone like me, a single mom with a toddler who can not afford a vehicle, to access simple things such as groceries, and I know I'm not the only one. I believe people should also have a choice in whether they want to drive or not. In Okotoks you are forced to own a vehicle. Or you have no other way of getting around. Yes, walking and biking are options, to a certain point. But not everyone is going to want to walk one hour each way in -30 degree weather during the winter. It is time that Okotoks joins other smaller communities in Canada and provide public transportation for their residents.
