We the undersigned demand that the Tramore Road (R675) be resurfaced to a proper standard. This is the busiest Regional Road under the control of Waterford County Council, linking the largest Town in County Waterford with Waterford City. The road has tens of thousands of vehicle movements on an average day, and can have more than a hundred thousand vehicle movements on a Bank Holiday Weekend. There was no obvious problem with the road surface until the County Council used a tar-and-chip resurfacing technique in September. The new surface is totally unsuited for a road with such a high volume of traffic and began to strip within days of being laid. The loose chippings have caused damage to thousands of cars, smashing windscreens and chipping paint. The flying chippings are also a hazard for the many cyclists who use the road on a daily basis. The road noise from the chip surface is unacceptable to the people living near the road. The current surface is not acceptable, and we demand that it be replaced with an appropriate surface as a matter of urgency. (Note: If a Donate Page comes up after you sign the petition just hit the Back Button to get out of it. This is a bug in the system)
