Name: Paul Fearon on Nov 6, 2006Comments: I am The Men's Development Network Representatives Coordinator Nationally. I am horrified that there is such a prolifferation of trafficking in Humans for sex. I agree with the proposed amendments to the bill as outlined. I strongly believe that Women and Children must be protected. I agree that victim supports must be in place. I dissagree that victim consent has any place in the defence of criminal activity. I also feel that monetary sanctions are not sufficient in addressing the nature of this crime. I encourage men to be aware of their actions and the consequences of thoes actions having respect for Women and children. Using the services of prostitutes wheather knowingly or unknowingly that they have been trafficked is reducing a human being to an object to be used or abused continuing the domination of women by men.Flag

Name: Robert Scully on Nov 24, 2006Comments: Sex trafficking, and prostitution are real life problems, which not only affects the victims, but us all. I am from Cork and anytime that I walk down the street after nine o'clock I see prostitutes, mostly foreign, down by the docks. One girl I saw a couple of weeks ago was clearly foreign, and had been badly beaten, but, she was still out on the job. This is appalling and needs to be stopped. Imagine this happening to your own kids The repulsive nature of those who abuse, and profit from such abuse is something that society badly needs to address. This country has made giant leaps forward in the past couple of years, especially with the forming of the CAB. Let us not fool ourselves into thinking that this alone will solve all our problems. There is a long way to go. Child trafficking has to be stopped. Those responsible for abusing, and profiteering from this trade, need to be brought to justice for lives they have ruined. When I have kids, I do not want my sons and daughters growing up in a world where children are being molested everyday. I do not want them growing up with the possibility that my neighbour next door might be a sex trafficker and child abuser. Witnesses and victims need protection and professional counselling. Before this happens the perpetrators need to be caught. Set up a task force dedicated to hunting down and ridding Ireland of such criminal activity. Let us not grow old with the thought in our head that we could have done more to prevent innocent childrens lives being ruined. Lets us do everything we can before it's too late.Flag
