Restore the traditional school calendar!

The petition

Please restore the late August or early September start date for the fall semester. Starting school in the middle of August is just too early. August is still summer time, when many families traditionally take their vacations. It is also one of the hottest times of the year, so that scarce educational resources must be spent on cooling. Most importantly, starting school during the middle of the summer is detrimental to the education of our children.
