Comments: Generally, the type of people who want to keep chickens are already the type of people who are conscience of their local community and environment. Therefore, it can only be expected that these people have already considered how to keep chickens in a way that lessens their family's use of local resources and does not create a nuisance with neighbours. Members of City of Toronto council, you should be honoured to have such residents in this city.

Comments: There is no reason why chickens should be illegal. With simple rules (for example no roosters, limit of hens allowed, having to get them vaccinated/dewormed or what not, like every other livestock) it could work perfectly fine. A little flock is not noisy (quieter than dogs) No harm can be done by legalizing chickens, besides its not like enough people will do it for it to pose a problem. Its not like every Toronto home will have a backyard farm...

Comments: We have backyard chickens. They are fun to have and produce eggs for us to eat. We enjoy having them so much. But our neighbor just told the Municipal Licensing and Standards Animal Services in Toronto that we have chickens and now we have to get rid of them.

Comments: It's so sad that Toronto refuses to be part of a positive solution, and instead chooses to remain part of the problem. Every backyard that has a chicken or two is another family that does not buy factory produced eggs, taking just a bit more out of the pockets of corporations which keep chickens in reprehensible and ethically unsound, environmentally damaging conditions.

Comments: Keeping backyard chickens allows youngsters to be responsible for chores, learn firsthand where their food comes from and enjoy the benefits of chemical free food. Of course, the profit hungry corporations will not approve of this
