Laura Berman | In these days of increasing gas prices and the impact of food miles on our environment, and concern about the sources of our food, the responsible, local raising of chickens makes plenty of sense.

Anonymous | Great idea!!!
Anonymous | There are many benefits to raising your own chickens that I feel shouldn't be limited by local by laws. With increased attention being paid towards living greener in our city and around the world, being allowed to raise chickens is a step in the right direction.
ira rabinovitch | We need to keep moving towards a more local, sustainable, economically self-sufficient, healthy, high-quality-of-life ontario!

Shannon Knox | People should have the ability to produce their own food as long as they have the proper space to accomodate proper living conditions. Raising your own chickens provides a great alternative to the cruel, albeit allowed, treatment of hens on factory farms.

Felicia | I would like to have a few chickens in my backyard. I have so far two grandchildren and I would like to feed them fresh eggs.
margaret jackson | "responsible" is the key word for having any animals so why not chickens?
Helena Gardner | I keep chickens at home in the city where I live and have done for several years now. They provide hours of entertainment, and a couple of hundred eggs per hen per year. Any arguments about chickens attracting rats are nonsense - it is the food that attracts them and not the birds themselves. All that people need to do is put the feed in a metal dustbin with a lid and they won't have a problem. The only rats I've ever seen round here are the pet ones in a cage in my living room!

| 299 | Johanne Christensen | If the city wants to get on board for climate change then it has to go for local food in every way they can.
As a kid we had chickens they were beautiful and we always had fresh eggs. |
James Kuhns | If New York City can do it, Toronto can do it.
