Many people living in cities grow herbs, vegetables and fruit in their own backyards. Raising chickens is the next logical choice. Chickens are much cleaner than many people realise. If kept properly, there is little odor associated with chicken coops and without a rooster, almost no noise. If an appropriate number of chickens relative to the space available are kept there is very little chance of them developing disease. In conclusion there is no reason at all that chickens should not be allowed in the city. As a citizen of Toronto I am asking that the by-laws be amended to match the needs of the people of Toronto. |
