\"We, the undersigned, call upon the State Liquor Authority to enforce its own rules, to respect community will and to honor community board opposition to the oversaturation of bars in the Lower East Side/East Village. We further call upon our elected officials to pass legislation that will give control over liquor licenses to our local community and that will effectively limit noise and disruption caused by bars. We call upon our community board to take steps to prevent more bars from opening in saturated areas of our neighborhood and revoke the liquor licenses of establishments that violate regulations.\"

Comments: It's time to respect the residents who live there for decades, versus whining 20 year olds who claim they need another bar when there are 50 bars within 500 square feet. These bar hoppers aren't going to spend their life in NY. They move on, leaving us with the bar problem. I don't think alterations to liquor licenses should be so easy to get either. It should be a process like getting the original liquor license. Not where a small venue can be licensed for liquor and be annexed to a larger venue as an "alteration" more than doubling capacity to an already problematic bar/restaurant.
