Valanne MascottoOur veterans continue to be treated with contempt by all our succesive governments. This has been evident to me since my father was overseas in WW2. I am still seething about our disabled vets who were cheated out of their pensions. I think that there should be a Canadian veterans party running at each election. They have more right to be representatives in our parliament than any others in our society.
AnonymousI support my cousin in his efforts. It seems to me that he has been treated in a very shabby fashion. Given the fact that the cause of the problem has been corrected it seems only just to rectify his, and others, pension.
R.Harold SmithIs there a Veteran's Ombudsman?
AnonymousShameful treatment of a loyal servant
P. McColganPensioners such as this person should be treated more fairly. A meagre 4000 should not bankrupt the federal government. It is time that our military received the compensation that they deserve considering the freedoms they ensure we continue to enjoy!
C.John PonteIt is high time that this totally unacceptable sitution, shortchanging people who served their country,. is corrected ASAP.

John M. WoodOutrageous! Despicable treatment by Conservative and Liberal governments alike!! The corrective legislation should have been retroactive!!!!

John B StewardI don't know the details of the loss of pension - the 'hows' and the 'whys' but I do know that no one should lose pension for giving MORE service.

AnonymousHappy to be supporting any injustice Ron
Willy YarmeyThe Government is being very unfair in this matter. Give him his rightful, and well-earned pension!
N. LensenRon, your stated plea highlights the need for the federal government to comply with regulations against the old confidence games that traps unsuspecting citizens who are inclined to believe in a good cause. In the absence of negative impact disclosure, the government has a moral obligation to grant restitution. May the balance of justice tip in your favour!

AnonymousMy husband and I both served in World War II. We are ashamed how the men and women in the services are treated. We wish you every success in your endevours.
Beth TrudeauThank you for serving our country - you have my husband & my support.
James WolfeHey Ottawa? You've got billions for Quebec but you starve our veterans...shame on you all.
Karol PohlSo many things are still wrong in this wonderful country and this is just one example. I elected this conservative government to a change all that. I hope it is not too late for Ron and his wife.
Robert BirksYet another veteran being manipulated by a system all too pleased to pay lip service in public, and then screw you over in private.

Ron BezantOne person has asked if there is a veterans' ombudsman. There is a Canadian Forces Ombudsman. He was recently transferred to another government position. Stephen Harper ptomised to appoint a replacement soon. Ombusman staff has informed me that their mandate prevents them from investigating any incident occurring prior to 15 June 1998, even though my situation is ongoing. The Royal Canadian Legion has responded that they have no expertise in matters such as mine. (What better opportunity to gain some expertise?) Mp's and senators have typically respondedwith assurances such as "I have taken the liberty of forwarding your correspondence to . . ." and "Rest assured you will receive a reply from . . ." and so on. Then I never hear from them again. Just one long series of frustrations.
AnonymousIt seems unfair to penalize Ron Bezant for doing the patriotic thing and re-enrolling in the Royal Canadian Navy; his pension should be at least as good as if he had not re-enrolled or better.

Helen EtheringtonIt is time we recognized the service this man has given to our country and be sure his wife can live in a comfortable manner once she is widowed. We have the money to support many minorities and Official Bilingualism, surely we can help those who have given to our country so freely of their life.

Barbara KayA deplorable situation and shameful for Canada.

Norma BeaucheminIt looks like you have seriously fallen between the cracks. I certainly hope this petition will actually do some good and that the powers that be will revisit your situation and amend your pension
ZRon BezantThanks very much, Norma. I fear it will take a few thousand names to move the politicians. They might have to fear a loss of votes before they move.
Ken SweetIt's about time that the Federal Government amend the CFSA , so this injustice does not happen to someone else. For Mr. Bezant, do the right thing, this isn't right. This is a crime.
Peter SlykhuisIf we can't support our service men, what next?

John EdenToo many of my comrades have been prejudiced by an uncaring government who frequently gives and then takes away more than the original. Come on politicians lets be fair. JBE

Keith HesseThis is the chance for the Conservatives to correct the injustices of the past. Our soldiers of today and veterans of the past have made the most heroic sacrifice that many of us take for granted. We live day in and day out turning a blind eye to the past. Let's make a difference with this petition and give credit to where credit is due.
