Name: The Horita Family on Apr 29, 2009Comments: Please keep busing services to and from TJ from our base high schools and neighborhoods as they are. Since we work full-time, it will be difficult to pick up our child from our base high school after school. FCPS children will be much safer if they are bused to their neighborhoods near their home. Thank you.Flag

Impacting the working families who have children who were able to make it to this magnet school based on their merits and not their affluence, means destroying one of the biggest achievements of Fairfax County, i.e. TJ High School itself.Flag

Please work with the TJ community to establish an improved transportation plan. We have a lot of ideas and some could even decrease costs without simply "cutting off the last leg of the trip."Flag

Name: Masood Malekghassemi on Apr 29, 2009Comments: Dumping kids off at some place away from home is -not- the proper usage of the busing system. The school, and by extension the county, is supposed to maintain responsibility for all students from the start of their school day to its finish. Shunting that responsibility by leaving the student to hang at some other school (which is a part of FCPS and thus represents the shunting of responsibility) or public main hub (even worse) cannot be the proper choice.Flag

Name: Jane Thatcher on Apr 29, 2009Comments: The major problem with depot busing is dual working parents and traffic. My fear is that the least able to accommodate this change are the poorest members of the TJ community, who cannot change their schedules for fear of job loss. FCPS has worked so hard, and well, to provide opportunities for the disadvantaged, and this is likely to unfairly and disproportinately punish those studentts.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Apr 29, 2009Comments: Hello, Removing the bus system for TJ students within Fairfax County would really make it hard for these students to get to school and back home. This is because, many students live almost 40 minutes away from their homes, even if they live in Fairfax County. I am one of these students. I live in Chantilly. Moreover, since my father is a consultant, he is out of the state during the weekdays, and my mother cannot pick me up and drop me off 10 times a week. I sincerely request that the Fairfax bus system not be altered. Thank you and regards, Akshar WunnavaFlag

Name: Ed Sapestein on Apr 29, 2009Comments: The proposed change causes hardship, especially on low and moderate income families, families where both parents work or on single parent families. The change also raises a driving safety issue as parents could decide to have their kids drive to TJ before they otherwise would or to have them drive to TJ in bad weather. And driving to TJ is not so easy especially for those from the west side of the county.Flag
