Dear Senator Gillibrand: We were so pleased to meet with your representative, Peg Cagle, on March 8, 2012. We trust that you have had an opportunity to view the videos and other materials we gave her, illustrating how effective the Title IID, Enhancing Education Through Technology (EETT) grant programs have been for the students and teacher in New York City. We’ve just learned that Senators Rockefeller (D-WV) and Blumenthal (D-CT) have taken up the cause of restoring funding to the Enhancing Education through Technology program for FY 13 and are circulating a sign-on letter to their fellow Senators, asking the Senate Appropriations Committee to include funding for EETT in the upcoming FY 13 Labor, HHS and Education Appropriations Bill. Please help us restore funding to this important program. Title IID for the past six years, provided quality professional development, in-classroom support, equipment, resources and classroom technologies to teachers in SINI, SURR and Corrective Action schools in New York City. The direct impact to students can be measured in collaboration skills, critical thinking skills, digital citizenship and academic achievement. Through EETT funding, there is a direct improvement in classroom instruction, teacher training, and student learning through our efforts. Teachers who were effective are now highly effective integrating technology seamlessly within their instructional practices.
