From last few years, there have been incidents of blasphemy in the name of freedom of speech against the most sacred personality in the religion Islam i.e. Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم). The most recent is the movie "Innocence of Muslims" broadcasted using the platform of YouTube.com.

There is no need to talk about the outcome of this recent hate bullet fired by a criminal on parol residing in US, as every body knows there are lots of deaths around the world in voilent protests against it.

Now the question rises, why it is so offensive for a Muslim when Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) is ridiculed or disrespected? To understand this here are a few facts.

1). It is mentioned in "Bukhari Shareef", the most authentic collection of "Ahadees (Prophet's (صلى الله عليه وسلم) Sayings)", that "Unfortunate indeed also is that person in front of whom Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) is mentioned, yet he does not read the Durood Shareef (Sending peace and blessings on Him)".

2). Narrated Anas: The Prophet said "None of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father, his children and
    all mankind."
   [Bukhari :: Book 1 :: Volume 2 :: Hadith 14]

Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) protects the right to hold an opinion without interference but, the exercise of the rights provided for in paragraph 2 of this article carries with it special duties and responsibilities. It may therefore be subject to certain restrictions, but these shall only be such as are provided by law and are necessary:

a. For respect of the rights or reputations of others;
b. For the protection of national security or of public order (order public), or of  public health or morals.

Additionally, Article 20 of the ICCPR also adds, “any advocacy of national, racial or religious hatred that constitutes incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence shall be prohibited by law.” The article referred to here calls on states to take measures that are“consistent with their obligations under international human rights law, to address and combat such incidents.”

In the light of all these facts, in this petition we demand from the Law Makers of all the countries in the world especially US and European countries to repeal/refine the law of freedom of speech so that it should not be used by any crackpot to make the whole world unsafe. We also demand the United Nations to pass on an International Law to prohibit the disrespect of Personalities whose respect is practised by billions of population of the world (Muslims).
