In 1999, the Thomas Lewis Room (Rockefeller Building) was refurbished, converted from being a clinical library and reopened as a brand new non-smoking common room. The dean at that time, Robert Souhami, opened it as a common room facility for ALL MEDICAL STUDENTS as well as a practise room for RUMS Music Society, Dance Society and UCL Orchestra. It had an Elsevier Black Grand Piano transported into it from the Edward Lewis Theatre. This elegant room was used widely by all students and societies. In 2004 - the medical school took the TLR away from us. They moved the grand piano back to the Edward Lewis Theatre, Windeyer Building where it lies out of tune, neglected and with sticky keys. The Thomas Lewis Room lay unused for a year and has since been converted into PHASE 1 ADMIN. *Without even giving us a reason, UCL took away a common room that belonged and was used by the medical students of UCL!* Don\'t let them get away with this!
