Name: Jude Courtney on Oct 6, 2012Comments: I have been a parent at this school for over 16 years as all my children have attended THHS. I have also served as a parent governor for 4 years. Whilst I may personally hold strong views about academy status being unecessary to bring about positive change in the school, I did expect more than the tokenistic consultation period that was held . I wanted to hear everyone's arguments, for and against. I then expected the governing body to reach a decision from that debate on behalf of all current and future stakeholders. This did not happen last time. Instead the CET were allowed to run the consultaton and write the final report it seems. Maybe this new governing body could try again in a genuinely honest and open way? Or does it have too many agendas of its own? Perhaps an independent consultation is required.Flag

Comments: I am a year 10 pupil at THHS and have been a member of the school council (if it still exists as nothing seems to ever happen) since year 7. Since this is a substantial and permanent change in the school, I definetley would have expected a thorough look into the change and consultation of pupils. Most of the people I know do not even know what an academy is and how it will affect their education and this is wrong. The school and governing body should have taken responsibility to inform and consult us as it is our futures they are changing.Flag -

Name: Val Davies on Oct 6, 2012Comments: Consultation on an issue as far-reaching as this for a community, should be exhaustive, transparent and balanced. The Sponsors, the Governing Body and the School's Leadership have failed on all counts. I am signing this petition because I believe that good teachers and good leadership are required to transform opportunities for young people, not private enterprise!Flag

Name: Apryl Blanks on Oct 6, 2012Comments: How not to ensure fairness in consultation: 1. Present only 1 option - the school should become an academy, 2. Disenfranchise swathes of interested parties - e.g. provide literature only in English, then explain that this can be provided in other languages, in English which, of course, can not be understood by anyone who can not read English, 3. Allow the company, destined to make significant sums from this venture, year on year, to run the process, gather the data and present the findings. Genius!Flag
