The Safe Climate Act (H.R. 1590) Student Petition

The petition

Science tells us that we face a grave risk of irreversible and devastating global warming if global temperatures increase by more than 3.6°F. Already category 4 and 5 storms has doubled, the Chesapeake Bay looses over 260 acres each year to rising water, global sea levels are expected to rise over 20 feet! It is predicted by 2050 or sooner the Arctic could be completely ice-free! GLOBAL WARMING IS HERE!

SUPPORT H.R. 1590.

H.R. 1590 freezes the level of emissions in 2010 and then gradually reduced each year through 2050, and financially achieves the targets through a flexible economy-wide cap-and-trade program.
• The Safe Climate Act is implemented by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
• Directs EPA to set standards for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from motor vehicles
• Directs the Department of Energy to establish national standards requiring energy from renewable energy sources
• Directs EPA to set a cap on greenhouse gas emissions from the largest polluters
• Provides funding for alternative fuel solutions, and renewable energy research
