the woodsman is coming home where it belongs. local officials finally agreed to put the carving back in st martins square and i cant even begin to tell you how good that feels. thanks for sticking with this until we actually got it done.
We the undersigned believe that Dave Chapple's carving The Woodsman was created in Basildon, for the people of Basildon, and should be restored and reinstated in St Martin's Square as soon as is practical.
im still pushing hard to get the woodsman back where he belongs in the square. ive been talking to the local council office to figure out why he was moved in the first place and ill let you know as soon as i get a real answer.

the momentum behind this is honestly wild right now. seeing everyone push for the woodsman to come home is amazing and it feels like people are finally listening.

Ridiculous that they moved it. It’s a piece of local history, not just some random bit of wood. Put it back where it belongs.

Bring it back!! My kids grew up seeing that carving every time we went into town. It feels empty without it.

The square looks boring and soulless now. Bring back the woodsman!

Why do they always remove the only decent stuff we have in this town. Leave the art alone ffs.
