The state of Verbum Dei is in severe crisis we are asking each alumni to sign and send in this petition. As you know, I’m the president of the Alumni Association and sit on the schools Advisory Board, along with Kurt Hocker ( Board Chair) class of 84, DeAnthony Langston class of 84, Sean Mc Cormick- Class of 82 and Medgar Boston Class of 81. D. Teddy McMillan President Verbum Alumni Association Recently the Advisory Board met with the president of the school, Fr. William Muller. Muller proceeded to tell us that due to the school's dire financial condition that the school may close . In order to save the school the only option was to cut out all sports. This was met with great anger by the Alumni on the Board and great reservation by the other fifteen Board members. As a result of this discussion we the Alumni on the Board reached out to Lalo to ask him to return to Verb. He agreed. As you all may know by now he was not hired. Fr. Muller replied to our request for a reason in which he said that “Lalo was the past and we needed to move forward”, thus denying our legacy and potential fundraising power which would result from his hiring. There are very many agendas going on that will be addressed in the next couple of weeks but we need each of you to fill out this petition. It will be used as a tool when the board reconvenes on Tuesday. We need as many alums to respond to this as possible PETITION TEXT ************************** As an alumnus, current parent or supporter of Verbum Dei... I fully agree with the Alumni Association's position with regard to the lack of attention given to the legacy and tradition that has been a part of Verbum Dei for over forty years. The decisions made by the current administration with regard to the admission policy, alumni relations and the decision not to hire Lalo Mendoza has greatly hindered my willingness to morally and financially support this institution.
