Name: Jenny Dubnau on Oct 14, 2008Comments: Frankly, I feel that this program is beyond redemption. It is insulting to insinuate that younger listeners and listeners of color want programming this silly and shallow. Take it away, or no more WNYC donations from this listener.Flag

Name: Mike Dora on Oct 16, 2008Comments: The "Takeaway" is banal, shallow rubbish which has no place on WNYC. I originally chose to listen to WNYC precisely to avoid such dumbed-down output on other networks. If it is not removed soon, I will have no choice but to cancel my monthly subscription to WNYC.Flag

Name: Lois Henry on Oct 22, 2008Comments: I am a long, long time listener, a sustaining supporter/member AND worked for many years in community radio. When the Takeaway moved to two hours, WNYC lost me for morning progrqamming. I respect Udoji and Hockenberry and have for years. Why are their considerable talents being sliced to ribbons by this awful format. At least takeaway the distracting and maddening sound beeps and noises.Flag

Name: Susan SImmons on Dec 9, 2008Comments: For more than 30 years, I have made a yearly donation to WNYC. This year I will not and will continue to withhold my yearly donations until WNYC removes "The Takeaway" from its morning line up. This show has turned my morning listening into an unpleasant experience. I might as well turn on a "morning zoo" station. I still love listening to many shows on WNYC, such as The Brian Lehrer Show, Leonard Lopate, This American Life, and Car Talk. But I must protest the degradation of standards that "The Takeaway" represents. I believe that withholding money is the best way to register my protest.Flag
