For years RIM (Research In Motion) was the leading provider of 'SmartPhones' across all carriers. However, since 2007 when the iPhone was announced and then shortly after Google's Android phones and Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 made the scene, RIM has simply done nothing innovative to progress their devices into modern intelligent products. Instead they've only continued to update their ancient OS with feature, leaving the weak and cumbersome interface intact. Therefore, by today's standards, Blackberry's are not 'SmartPhones'
