The Royal Connaught is currently not designated as a heritage building. We urge council to fast-track the heritage designation currently being considered by staff.
This building is an important part of our City's built heritage, and the owners need to understand their responsibilities to maintain and protect this building in hopes that it can be eventually be restored and revitalized. The future development plans for the Royal Connaught are for now unclear. But we hope with this petition to make one thing abundantly clear: the citizens of Hamilton will not allow this building to be subtracted from the skyline and added to a landfill. We urge you to do the right thing and give the Royal Connaught the heritage designation it rightly deserves.

I grew up walking past this building and it would be a huge shame to lose it to a wrecking ball
Get it done.
This place is iconic for Hamilton. Stop letting developers wreck our history.
Too many old buildings getting torn down in this city. Keep it heritage.
PLEASE SAVE THE CONNAUGHT. Its beautiful and we need to keep it standing for the next generation.

As a citizen of Chicago who stayed at the Connaught and was impressed by the faded beauty of the place I urge you to take action on landmarking this gem immediately. It is unfortunate that many beautiful and significant examples of Canada's past is destroyed and not cherished as in other cities around the world. I therefore implore the city council to take action on saving this land mark by what ever means necessary.
