Directed to the Attention of:

John Holer, Owner of Marineland
Bill Peters, National Director of the Canadian Association of Zoos
Madeleine Meillur, Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services
The Honourable Rob Nicholson, Minister of Justice House of Commons

The once famous “Everybody loves Marineland” is currently well known for its animal cruelty, lack of appropriate skill level training along with their lack of appropriate staff and inconsiderate maintenance towards their aquarium facility. There have been numerous animal deaths such as the baby beluga that died after a two-hour assault by two adult belugas. The two males bit and tore off the baby belugas head and body while the former trainers just stood and watched as they were unqualified and helpless to arbitrate. After the two hour assault the trainers were finally able to pull the baby beluga out of the pool as she shuddered frequently and died in their arms. There have also been ill health and poor treatment issues with regards to five female dolphins that swam boundlessly in dirtied water, trapped in a concrete pool which is currently called the barn. Former employees witnessed the dolphins submerge into the murky green water as the chemicals negatively reacted with their skin. The chemicals and other substances fused with the water made their skin fall out in thick chunks. According to one former employee, he noticed that their colour darkened and they refused to eat. There have been countless incidents that have been reported by the public and animal rights association but no legal action or penalty was taken for this broken-down business.

It is fair to say that John Holer, the owner of this facility should be held accountable and tried for all the innocent blood he has shed. I personally demand all animals go through a medical and social rehabilitation before they are released to their prior habitats. The killer whale, also known as the lone orca which is currently residing at Marineland should be immediately released back to its natural locale at once. In addition, I request that the Canadian Association of Zoos & Aquariums revoke the operating license they have granted to Marineland until an appropriate sought out investigation is executed. Furthermore and most importantly, I demand that the Federal and Provincial government of Canada immediately generate, and enforce a new and well interpreted law regarding wildlife operating license, public and private wildlife refuge, and zoo/aquatic business related practices in Ontario and all of Canada.

I respectfully and graciously request that the Humane Society of Canada and OSPCA both take disciplinary action towards those who violate these new laws and regulations concerning animal cruelty. I also wish that they would undertake in the participation of any and all ongoing licensing of public and private animal entertainment facilities in Canada.

I believe it is time as a civilized and well respected society that we reconsider and identify these animals as our fellow inhabitants of earth and not just imprisoned products only to be brought out for our entertainment and profit. With a problem such as animal cruelty affecting our natural wildlife, it is a problem that needs to be dealt with now.

Please send this petition to everyone you know and help us end this horrid facility. No animal deserves to ever be treated like this. It’s time we speak up and take action for these animals. I would like to thank you for your time and appropriate attention to these significant matters.
