Name: Paul Barnett on Apr 3, 2008Comments: The Point is a great live music venue. Those with power should be fighting to preserve arts and culture in this city, not encouraging more and more and more soul-less flats, which would inevitably result in a lifeless, unattractive city.Flag

Name: James Nee on Apr 3, 2008Comments: I find it very disheartening that The Point is facing opposition by a council that should be looking to support and work with it, rather than taking such irrevocable action of taking the venue to court. This is for a number of reasons. Firstly, over the past couple of years The Point has established itself as one of the best music venues in South Wales, where Ive discovered some amazing bands (including local acts), and which has attracted an eclectic and loyal following with a real sense of community - something which is being slowly drained out of Cardiff Bay due to the continued creation of anonymous new apartment blocks. It feels like all the good work done by the Cardiff Bay Development Corporation is being threatened by the sheer indifference shown by the council. Secondly, The Point is more than just a music venue but also an asset to the local community, as well as the economy. For anyone with no interest in opera or theatre, going to The Point is one of the few attractions of a night out in Cardiff Bay. If Cardiff is to be a vibrant capital city then its essential that venues like The Point are allowed to continue and thrive. The closure of the venue would be to the detriment of Cardiff, its nightlife, and the local community.Flag

Name: Tim Snell on Apr 3, 2008Comments: The Point is the best live music venue in Cardiff and also one of the city's key assets both culturally and economically. I sincerely hope that it can continue to be one of the key attractions that Cardiff has to offer both to the citys inhabitants and to the thousands of visitors that come to The Point throughout the year.Flag

Name: Carl Forecast on Apr 3, 2008Comments: The Point has to stay open, I find it unbelievable that the law sides with the compainant when the Point was there first, people's careers are on the line here, there really shouldn't be a discussion about this, The Point should stay open, end of argument. In a town full of chain pubs and clubs the Point as an independent business should be supported and not under threat.Flag

Name: Tom Reeves on Apr 3, 2008Comments: How dare they even consider closing this amazing venue. The NEW neighbours would've known of it's existence before moving in and would be aware of any residual noise. If they weren't - more fool them!Flag

Name: Esyllt Williams on Apr 3, 2008Comments: This is an important venue for Cardiff, it seems ridiculous to plough money into revitalising Cardiff Bay with one hand and removing it's cultural centres with the other. This issue should have been addressed when granting planning permission for renovation into flats next door to a major music venue.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Apr 3, 2008Comments: Surely a compromise can be reached between the Parties to this dispute. This is such a great live music venue and it would be a shame to loose it. Have the Point contacted Chapter Arts/other Cardiff music venues to see what arrangements they have in place with the neighbours Or, does the Council have an ulterior motive Are there developers sniffing around who want to turn the site into flatsFlag
