Name: Veena Sharma on Jul 7, 2011Comments: Would be a huge shame for such a welcoming and unique gastro pub to close down. Its a valuable part of the local community. Had many a good meal here and certainly if it was replaced by a 'o'neils' I would be giving the 'o neils' a miss!Flag

People like me walk over from home in Gospel Oak and Kentish Town simply BECAUSE the engineer is still different - it feels individual because the management are free to make day to day decisions, free from franchise clauses. Please keep the Engineer independent. Sincerely, Maeve RyanFlag

The food is lovely, you feel at ease, service is great, location is beautiful....We are foodlovers who enjoy life and want Engineer to stay!Flag

Surely we do not need another Harvester /Toby restaurant. It would be no different than opening a McDonaldsFlag

Name: John & Larissa Marino on Jul 10, 2011Comments: We used to go here when we lived in London between 1996 and 1998. We thought it was one of the best pubs we've visited in London. Whilst we lived in Smithfield, we often visited the Engineer because of it's character and position. We look forward to returning to it in September 2011, after living in Sydney, Australia since then. DO NOT CHANGE!Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jul 11, 2011Comments: We have been going to the Engineer since 1995 and after a dramatic breakup and get-together (all in the Engineer!), we celebrated our engagement in the lovely upstairs room. Losing the Engineer would mean losing important part of our history as a couple - now family. we hope that you will be able to continue in the independent and unique spirit.Flag

Name: HY & Micha on Jul 11, 2011Comments: We had both our breakups and getting back together in the Engineer. Our engagement party was in the upstairs room. we have been going to the Engineer since 1995 and would be devasted to see its independence and unique spirit being replaced by a chain. Hope you can keep it alive and kicking.Flag

Name: John Chambers on Jul 11, 2011Comments: As long as Abigail and Tamsin are running the Engineer I will make every excuse I can find to come to it. I have worked in the area for 12 years and my credit card can often be found behind the bar or at the till - a perfect place to take clients visiting from overseas for a unique, authentic business lunch experience. Also a perfect place for a special departmental celebration or just a quiet retreat in the garden when a moment of anonymous, solitude is needed. It just wouldnt be the same - being authentic and unique are what make The Engineer worth the effort.Flag
