Name: Matthew Woodward on Aug 23, 2008Comments: I am a library assistant, exhibtion curator and drum teacher in Leeds. I attend gigs and club nights regularly at the Commonplace and I would like to offer my full support to the license renewal campaign. I believe the Commonplace to be a vital part of the city's cultural and social development and plays a vital role in the evolution of sub-cultural communities in Leeds.Flag

Name: Kath Owen on Aug 23, 2008Comments: The Common Place is a venue which has had a huge benefit to communities in and around Leeds. Many voluntary groups have been established and strengthened due to access to this space. There is no other replacement for the Common Place and it should be valued highly by Leeds Council. As a teacher I have been delighted to see young people coming together and interacting with a variety of other members of the Leeds community to discuss important social issues in a serious and academic manner - an opportunity that is not often available in schools. Please overturn the decision to withdraw a Club Premises Certificate, on which the Common Place relies for funding. Kathryn OwenFlag

Name: Heimir Salt on Aug 23, 2008Comments: The Common Place is an excellent focus for a wide range of groups, particularly with a green interests. As far as I am aware Leeds, unlike many UK towns , has no other equivalent, centrally situated venue. It needs a license to keep it open.Flag

Name: Hywel Lewis on Aug 23, 2008Comments: It would be a travesty if The Common Place had to close. It provides so many excellent services to the local community and is a force for good in this overly cynical, uncaring world. Have courage and support what is right.Flag

Name: Mark Sturdy on Aug 23, 2008Comments: Extremely disappointing to hear about this. The Common Place represents precisely the kind of individuality and receptiveness towards alternative culture that's becoming ever more endangered in the New Leeds. As such the it's just the sort of thing that the council should be trying to help preserve, not kill off.Flag
