Comments: This decision is appalling. What other community space does the city centre have And how mcuh trouble in comparison to big clubs etc does it generate I don't see their licenses being revoked. Why doesn't the council learn to engage with positive action by communities instead of haranguing it. Pathetic.

Comments: Loss of the Common Place would be deeply tragic for the numerous community and voluntary groups who use it and for Leeds as a whole.

Comments: The Common Place is a great mixing pot where people from all kinds of different communities can get together and find out about each other. It's really unique in Leeds, and the social events are a crucial part of it.

Comments: Leeds' only self funding, artistic, musicly diverse, Leeds band venue, Leeds film maker showing, theatre, discussion group licence revoked by Leeds Council. They are supposed to be making the city centre better! Maybe they should convert to an over priced bar or a stripclub then they would have no problem getting a licence. Reverse the decision to help stop Leeds Centre becoming the blandest, most corporate, dullest, most over priced, seediest city centre in Britain.

Comments: The common place holds extremely worthwhile events such as the common conversation english classes for refugees, permaculture meetings and all manner of other brilliant things. Closing them down would be a blow for self organising support networks that ease pressure on mainstream council servies.

Comments: Its not a good move on the council's behalf to effectively close a center that provides so much for people that need it the most e.g asylum seekers english groups, mental health groups etc - is hypocritical and contradictory when when they say they want to encourage and promote this sort of activity!Makes you wonder what other hypocrisy is happening in the Council offices...and if we can trust them!

Comments: I have sat in at the entrance desk on numerous occasions at events and have witnessed that the organisers have been scrupulous in only admitting paid up members and properly signed in guests. I witness that any allegation that the Common Place has allowed non members to come in to events is a falsehood.
