We, the undersigned, call upon Leeds City Council to overturn its decision to withdraw a Club Premises Certificate from Leeds Social Centre Ltd (aka \'The Common Place\'). We believe that the Council\'s actions are totally unwarranted. The Common Place is the only independent, self-financed community, cultural and political space in the city centre. As a private members club, it serves as a vital resource for hundreds of local residents as well as supporting voluntary and community activity, particularly around homelessness, housing, environmental, womens\' and asylum issues. By revoking the Common Place\'s Club Premises Certificate, the Council is removing the Common Place\'s ability to generate much-needed funding through licensed events, meaning almost certain closure. We believe this is exactly the kind of venture Leeds City Council should be supporting to increase active citizenship in the city. (Your address and email will not be displayed to the public)

Leeds City Council thinks they can kill our space in the dark while we are busy doing the work they refuse to do. We are still here and we are not going anywhere until they reverse this shameful decision to strip us of our lifeline.

We hit 100 signatures today. Leeds City Council thinks they can just shut us down in the dark but this shows they are wrong.

Leeds City Council is trying to kill our space but we are almost at one hundred signatures. Send this link to three people right now so we can hit that milestone before they try to ignore us again.

Absolute joke. The council is just killing off anything good in the city centre. Keep it open.

Ridiculous decision. Leeds needs places like this that aren't just faceless chain bars. Hands off.

Vital hub for housing and activist groups. If they shut this down there is literally no other space like it in leeds.

This place is the heart of the community. Where else are people supposed to go for help and community events? Leave it alone.

Spent so many good nights here. It actually does stuff for people instead of just taking their money. Dont close it!!
