3	Anonymous	I have worked tirelessly against heavy odds to turn this pond into a natuaral haven for wildlife. It is now the last open space in Sutton Heath apart from a flat uninteresting football pith on Sutton Heath road. To fill the pond in now would be scanderlous and an afront to a lot of people who get a lot of pleasure from visiting this pond.

12	Anonymous	I dont agree with the clegg to be filled in because spots like that are rare around built up areas, One thing that does concern me though is the fact that some weeds wrapped around the lads ankles, the council should maintain these local ponds to make them safe and for people and wildlife to enjoy.

15	john hill	Although i sympathize with family of John. i do not believe that filling in the Clegg is the solution. Even with greater education in the dangers of messing about on water. to do so at midnight in near zero temperatures staggers belief. The Clegg is almost a wildlife reserve and should kept as such.
16	C Lowton	I've just read about the appeals to fill in the Clegg Pond in this week's reporter and I am appalled. They call it a death trap. Quite rediculous. They'r using emotive language to win an argument based on hysteria.

19	Anonymous	The Clegg itself is not a danger in my opinion, it is the actions of the individuals. Whilst I feel for this child's family, I do not feel that this is the answer. If we were to fill in every stretch of open water when a child decides to act irresponsibly, we would have no wildlife left!

21	Bob Hill	There have always been ponds and lakes in our town, we cannot fill them all in because people go on unsafe"boats" in the pitch black...I have deep sympathy for the Boy and his family, but filling in the Cleg is not the answer at all.

23	?	i think that all you should get a grip if it was one of ur family that had lost there life u wud want 2 do evertyhin u cud 2 get it filled in ! I no that john was ova there at a dafted time but wat r young teenage lads like so i am backin the family all the way 2 get that death hole filled coz if nothin happens now sumthin so sad as this cud happen agen :( so ye get it filled in !
24	Anonymous	I sympathise with the family of John Simmons and their loss, but feel the loss of the clegg would be worse for a lot of poeple and the wildlife.
25	Anonymous	I taught my son to swim at an early age and also taught him to respect lakes, ponds, rivers etc and also the wildlife that thrive on those waters. Filling in The Clegg will not achieve anything IMO and those who are asking for The Clegg to be covered have not thought it through.

29	Anonymous	firstly, sympathy to the family and friends of john simms..................................................................... secondly, water should be treated with respect otherwise accidents will happen, filling in lakes, canals, ponds etc is not the answer.
30	Anonymous	I have the most heartfelt sympathy for the Simmons family but think that considering filling in The Clegg is a kneejerk reaction to their tragedy. How about local schools setting up environmental/local history studies classes based at The Clegg. This would involving youngsters in learning about safety for themselves, local wildlife and hopefully eventually encourage more wild life to the site. It is surely more cost effective and ecologocically sound to do this than turn it into another space available for developers.

42	Anonymous	is this another case of the minority spoiling things for the majority most people go to the clegg for the peace and quiet or feed the ducks or exercise thier dogs these youths went to act irresponseably late at night unfortunetly it cost a young boy his life my sympathy to his family.
