Their great idea to shift adults outside to smoke, Yes well thought out, now smoking is on the streets in front of children rather than in adult establishments, and more passive smoking in childrens homes, yeah we can all agree this well help reduce the number of children taking up smoking - NOTFlag

Name: Iain Hines on May 2, 2006Comments: the proposed smoking ban is an infringment on civil liberties, there has been no public outcry to ban smoking, just the fanatical few anti-smokers. i watched tony blair live on gmtv about a year ago saying he was against banning smoking because he didnt want to create a nanny state and the free market will dictate if there is a need for non smoking pubs etc..what changed!! all independant surveys show between 65-80% of the public do not support a total smoking ban which is interesting when only around 25% of the population actually smoke! also, all independant studies linking passive smoking to disease have proved inconclusive. i would love to see exactly how the fanatical few anti-smoking lobby's so called statistics come from. it's all about freedom of choice which is being eroded by this ban. if there is such a need for banning smoking, there would be non smoking pubs in every town/ over 600 pubs in ireland have been forced to close since the smoking ban there. how dare the fanatical few, most of which have probably never set foot in a pub tell everyone else how to live!! pubs arent health clubs!!Flag
