All the elements that caused the 1967 civil war have reared its ugly head again. The silence from the North which Boko Haram claim to represent has been deafening. The Igbo must consult, reach out and build bridges of understanding and alliances. The Igbo must plan ahead and resist any attempt to react without proper planning; immediate revenge will escalate the existing tension; any provocation to roll out war drums must be resisted as long as their is hope for serious and committed dialogue from all stake holders particularly from the Northern leadership. How do the mother hen protect her chicks when the kite is circling above and about to prey on her chicks? By alarm dissemination, proactive family vigilance, individual and collective protective actions wherever they reside. The vultures are back but there must be a strategy in place to clip their wings.
