Some time last year, in 2013, I was putting together a song. Like many writers, I was getting blocked. I knew I wanted to write a song about persevering, even when it seems like you’re in the darkest of moments and you don’t think you’ll ever see the light. When I felt like I was just beating my head against the wall to finish the song, I ended up putting it down and kind of forgetting about it.

Months later I picked up The Hunger Games series. I was so excited! This was the inspiration I was looking for! The story of someone who is unobtrusive but works up the courage to stand up for what is right. That is what my song “The Spark” is about. I have decided to start a campaign to get “The Spark” on “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay” soundtrack.

I know it’s going to be hard and my efforts may not amount to anything. But wouldn’t it be great know that you had a hand in starting something at the grassroots level that made it out to the world?
