Comments: Whalemina is a part of Rockaway. Everyone here in Rockaway Beach has been through so much, and to be told NO WAY by one person is ridiculous! The people of Rockaway decide what we want here! We LIVE here and we love her. Now bring her back!

Comments: I didn't think the whale was the prettiest or the best sculpture, but I was sad to see it didn't survive and would like to see something similar in its place. Maybe something like this would be a good compromise. We could host an art contest for the best design, etc. and make it a community project. I'm sure many would like to help.

Comments: The whale has become a Rockaway icon, welcoming residents and visitors to the beautiful shores we love. While the original whale was not initially made for Rockaway, it was re-touched with Rockaway artistry and welcomed here. If you ever went whale watching off the boat at Fort Tilden, you would understand what the true meaning that whale stood for in Rockaway. We want it back!
