My movement is based on economic growth and frugality by the removal of the penny from the United States monetary system. Every year millions of dollars are spent, and lost on pennies. The point of a note of currency like the the penny is to help facilitate the exchange of goods and services. The penny does not do this. If you were to try and go to a store and buy a twenty dollar item with pennies, you would be likely turned away. This movement will help people understand the problems brings this country, and show what they can do to help. Many mining companies campaign to keep these expensive coins in our countries use. They are the main beneficiaries when these coins are made because of the millions of dollars spent on the metal they produce for these coins. They hire many lobbyists that may hinder the way for this movement, but in the end it will be clear what will make a larger difference economically. Educating people on what these coins really do for our economy will help create more pressure for pennies to be discontinued. It’s not just a fact the penny needs to removed from the economic system, its common cents.
