Research shows 1 in 7 nurses are at risk of substance addiction. This professional issue in nursing is one that deserves the attention of students, new graduates, and veteran nurses alike. Alternative to disciplinary action programs are on the rise throughout the United States and are a favorable approach to assist nurses back to practice while still protecting patient safety. It is through the confidence and support of State Boards of Nursing that nurses are able to regain self-esteem and entry into the profession. Please help me in a mission to reinstate New Hampshire’s Road to Recovery program by signing this petition which will assist nurses in a successful recovery from substance addiction and return to a practice that relies on empathy and a helping hand.

Ridiculous that this isnt a thing anymore. People make mistakes and struggle but they deserve a second chance to get back to helping patients.

Nurses are human beings too. They deal with so much stress and trauma every single day. We should be helping them get healthy instead of just throwing them away.
