The Eradication Of Facebook
Facebook is aMulti Million dollar company. The use of this social media network was initially done to help fellow students interact with one another. Then it metamorphosed into something much worst and more deviant. I'm not here to villainously attack Facebook, however I am here to Eradicate it. I believe this social media website has caused much more harm then good and I have the statistics to back it up. Cyber-Bullying is now more common due to the Anonymity that social media can provide.
According to www.internetsafety.org
95% of social media-using teens who have witnessed cruel behavior on social networkingsites say they have seen others ignoring the mean behavior; 55% witness this frequently(PEW Internet Research Center, FOSI, Cable in the Classroom, 2011)
"One million children were harassed, threatened or subjected to other forms of cyber bullying on Facebook during the past year. (Consumer Reports, 2011)
According to www.youthengage.com
° Media violence gives children a sense that violence is everywhere. This environment contributes to a greater risk of abuse and violence in our homes, workplaces, and communities.
° Children (8 to 18) in the West spend more time (44.5 hours per week (and) 6.5 hours daily) in front of computers, television, and game screens than any other activity in their lives except sleeping.
The United States sends troops to engage in wars, and settle conflicts all over the world, but we’re in the midst of a war here in our own country. This war is being fought in our own backyard in our schools! and the causalities are the youth of America. Ladies and gentlemen the future generation of our country may not even live long enough to realize their potential. They may not live long enough to be able to contribute to the progression of our society. These young adults are supposed to be the future leaders of America?
Can they lead you? Better yet. Do you want them to lead you?
Are you willing to put the sustainability of this country in their
hands?
If you have any doubt or hesitation in answering that question, then you've already made the decision to join me in my quest to Eradicate Facebook.
Thank You
Orlando Johnson
