This petition aims to examine how race has impacted the North American standards of beauty, how these standards impact men and women and how these standards are around the world.

There have been a huge number of misrepresentations in the media, modelling world and Hollywood regarding a phobia to race and how we like to believe that only white people meet the supposed standard of beauty. This statement, however, is by no means accurate because not only does this idea influence the fashion industry, it also impacts everyday morals in society that influence discrimination because of racist feelings deeply rooted in prejudices. If we keep going on this way in acting like other races do not exist, then this problem will never become resolved. As of 2014, white actors/actresses held 73.1% of all major roles. For a society that claims to be accepting, we sure don’t seem to mind it when a large portion of Hollywood, however, this predicament won’t change until we change out attitudes towards rage and ethnicity along with gender.
