Dear Square Enix and to those it may concern,
For the majority of the time you have shown footage of your up coming game Final Fantasy 15 it was clear that the gameplay would require both skills in timing and strategy to play it. While this was met with a mixed reception; over all the community grew excited with anticipation for the release of the game.
However recently it was discovered that you have changed the control scheme and have allowed the passive and often terribly integrated (despite the developers best wishes) auto-attack and auto-dodge functions. While in the past these functions have had their place in games and may work in certain circumstances, they still break the immersion one feels when playing a video game.
One is not trying to tell you how to make your game, only offering advice on how you may improve it. Now here is one possible solution is to add into the game options different control schemes that offer various different ways to play. For example: there could be a kingdom hearts (more akin to the one displayed at E3 2013) style control scheme option, or perhaps a Type-0 style control scheme option. A developer can do this with out sacrificing your new and inventive control scheme. Lastly you would not even have to change the AI for the party members, at most all that would change between control scheme options would be the graphical user interface and the button values.
Originally this was simply going to be a letter to the company and the FF team director, over what is perhaps a minor grievance, but after speaking a small group of other fans excited for this game I learned that they too had a similar opinion. So I decided to start a small petition just to see how many people through out the community agreed.
Please sign this petition if you do agree with me if not then carry on your marry way through life. Also feel free to comment anything that should be added to this!
