On October 5th, 2011, Steve Hayes decided to sell London Wasps. After years of mismanagement, this is a chance for the club to make a clean break with the recent past, and get back to the winning ways that made it one of the most feared clubs in European and world rugby. This petition calls on Tony Fernandes, current majority shareholder at QPR Holdings (QPR FC), to buy Steve Hayes' holding in London Wasps. There are many reasons to support this petition. First, the apathy shown by Steve Hayes towards London Wasps has led our beloved club to the brink of ruin. There is no money for new players, and no money to keep hold of the stars we already have. However, all is not lost. With 2.5 million active players, England remains rugby's most active nation. This number can only increase when the world cup comes to England in 2015, and presents a great opportunity for a new owner with a clear vision and purpose to invest in the club for the future. Second, there is a historical precedent for London Wasps at Loftus Road (QPR's current ground), where the club played between 1997 and 2002. During that time, Wasps won their second English championship, as well as the Tetley's Bitter Cup. It would be great to see as many names as possible on this e-petition, which I will then bring to the attention of Mr Fernandes, in the hope that he will hear our call and bring London Wasps the investment and passion it needs.
