Name: Joi Brock on Feb 15, 2011Comments: Choices in maternity care should be available to all women, including care from an independent, licensed midwife. Making sure women who use Medicaid have access to a Licensed Midwife by including paying the Licensed Midwife will insure these rights to choose her care.Flag

Name: Tina Rowe-Woodall CPM, LM on Feb 15, 2011Comments: out of hospital birth is more cost effective than traditional hospital birth. Women with medicaid should not be forced to choose a hospital setting, due to Medicaid restrictions on midwives and birthing centers. We are licensed by the state, we should be able to be reimbursed by Medicaid for the healthcare we offer.Flag

Name: Ryan Pryor on Feb 15, 2011Comments: As a CPM and Texas Licensed Midwife, I think this bill is of the utmost importance. All birthing families have the right to choose their own birth attendant, and all options should be made affordable. Midwives save money and save lives! Thank you, Ryan PryorFlag

Name: Gail Johnson CPM, LM on Feb 15, 2011Comments: Statistics from your own Bureau of Vital Statistics for the years 1990 - 2000 showed that infant mortality rates for home birth were 250% better than for hospital birth. A second pull of statistics is needed for the next decade, but the statistics should be comparable. Licensed Midwives are viable and lower cost alternative care for most pregnant women.Flag

Name: Ruth Phy on Feb 15, 2011Comments: Midwifery care is beyond exceptional and no woman should be restricted by insurance to choose a poorer care from the obstetric model. ESPECIALLY HERE IN THE US WHERE BIRTH IS MUCH MORE DANGEROUS COMPARED TO MOST OTHER DEVELOPED COUNTRIES!Flag

Name: Priscilla Dreyer on Feb 15, 2011Comments: I have had 2 of my 3 children with uncomplicated pregnancies, born at home under the care of a LICENSES MIDWIFE. I think all women should have the right to choose their caregivers in pregnancy and should be covered under Medicaid or medical insurance regardless if they are cared for by an obstetrician or midwife.Flag

Name: Keely Wahl on Feb 15, 2011Comments: It makes sense for taxpayers and parents. As a property owner and taxpayer, I love the idea of a safe low cost alternative saving thousands of medicaid dollars. As a friend and activist, I have seen many women and families struggle to pay out of pocket for midwifery care.Flag
