Name: Erin Ellis on Apr 27, 2005State: TXCountry: USComments: I agree. I am absolutely floored at how the court system repeatedly puts children in harms way because that particular person helped conceive a child. There are so many children that are forced to go see a parent unwillingly or are being put in danger unknowingly. Also what gets me is that if a father doesn't want to have anything to do with their child, if the mother wants to get any kind of help from the system until they get on their feet, these agencies will tell you that they will file child support on him and the court thinks that they are doing you a favor. Why make a man pay who doesn't care If they pay, they automatically get it stipulated in the papers that they get your child when the court says so. Even if the man doesn't want to have the child, a lot of times they will comply just to hurt the mother. There is not a damn thing you can do either. If you linger around to make sure that your baby doesn't get hurt, you could be arrested for harrassment even though he is the one doing the harm. It is so scarry and I can't believe that things like this are going on. CASA and CPS are a joke as far as I am concerned. My boyfriends ex-wife is a registered sex offender and got full custody of her kids and THEY WERE THE ONE'S ABUSED. The court told her that she could not be around "other" children and the one's abused were in her own home. GO FIGURE!! It is infuriating!! Where were their advocates Working in the system, not for the children!! I realize that I am rambling but I know exactley what you are talking about. I am 23 years old and I remember the court telling my mother that my father had to have me a month in the summer and the man was and still is an alcoholic. He would take me to the airport bar because it was the only one that I was allowed in while he drank at my age. I would sit and drink pineapple juice and I didn't realize until now that after 10 screw drivers, this was the man driving me home. There was nothing my mother could do. And well, I was too young to know better. Where was my advocateFlag

Name: Alice Grubb on Apr 27, 2005State: CACountry: USComments: My husband and I stationed in the marine corp and we are still residients of texas, we are going through the same thing with my son. I had him out side of wed lock and his sperm donor never wanted anything to do with him until he heard I was getting married and moving, he took me to court and of course got his way. He pays his child support ever now and then but never calls or see my son. He gets every other month visits in which my son has to fly to texas and back to calforina he pays for the trip there and we have to pay for the trip back on military pay. we have to fly out to get him or have one of our family members bring him back to us, but his father never comes to get him because he always sends his mother, who acts like she gets the visitation.we need so sort of help because my ex was very violient to me, and because i never called the police because of being afraid, that does not matter. My husband and I are sick of letting him do what he wants when he wants. We are a very loving family and even when my husband went to Iraq twice he always found a way to call and write letters to my son, and just to think my son's "real" father dosen't even attempt to do that.Flag

The CPS has been called on countless occations and yet she still lives with the abusive step father. Right now they are in the middle of another "mess" with CPS. There is no on on earth I am letting her live in her home were she gets abused again! no child should have to go through with being abused. Please keep on trying to get the law changed! I cry with her almost everyday starring at her bruises. Please continue fighting since I cant do anything to help her right now. ThanksFlag

Name: Melissa Harvey on Jun 20, 2005State: TXCountry: USComments: My father's daughter shares joint custody as well.He has been married six times including his current wife who has along with all the others filed for a protective order several times. The man has been arrested for dwi the latest with child passenger that being my two yr.old daughter. The judge in Burnet County warned my if I were to withold visitation I should be prepared to "suffer the consequences." As with CPS unfortunately children in Texas are seen as a commodity for money making operation. Attorney fees. I haven't yet met a justice system in Tx that serves to protect our most innocent. #210 639-9952.Flag

CPS got involved after he punshed me in the face while I was holding his daughter. He has gone through all the courses that were required, but I do not see any change especially when he tried to run me off the road a couple of weeks ago. He had no ideal if our baby was in the vehicle with me or not. He is not stable and I do not know what to do.Flag

If violence is what they see, what kind of impact will they have on society when they grow up It's important that children have strong teachers in their live, and parenting should be looked at as the most important teaching job that there is.Flag

Name: Carla Skog on Oct 5, 2005State: TXCountry: USComments: I have been fighting the court to regain custody of my son, who was abused and kicked out by his father about a year ago, and because of the law of habeas corpus, i have been recently ordered to return him to his father, even though it would be very detrimental for him to return to his father. The court says I must file a modification, but i donot have thousands of dollars that lawyers are asking for just as a retainer.Flag
