Fighting for Minority Jobs in the Construction Industry
Championed fight to require developers to hire a minimum of 30% minority participation in residential construction projects. Provided scholarships, apprenticeships, training and union dues for re-entry and unemployed Wilmingtonians. Shut down a city construction project until minority contractors received overdue payments.

Mayor Williams is Fighting Crime
Invested in more crime fighting technology than all previous mayors combined. Created Violent Crimes/Homicide Unit. Built Police department Real Time Crime Center and implemented other effective crime fighting tools. Must overcome the “Stop Snitching” culture.

Investing in our Children
Ensured Parks & Recreation department works hard for our youth and families by instituting the following: Summer food program, movie night in the park; opened swimming pools early; expanded hours or Recreation Centers; Arts in the park; Mentoring tutorial programs and Summer jobs for over 570 city youth.
