What is the OCP and why should the members of the TRGC be concerned?

The Official community plan will set the zonation, land use planning of present and future use of both crown and private lands in Thornhill.

We currently hold a 10 year lease on the largest piece of crown land in Thornhill.

The old community plan has this area listed as community recreational and low density residential.

We need to make sure that the new plan does not impact our club’s ability to use this property as a Rod and Gun club.

Let’s make sure the speculators and developers have to look elsewhere for places to build more subdivisions.

The Terrace Rod and Gun club has been part of the community of Thornhill since 1956 As members of the TRGC you are all stakeholders in this process, even though some of you may not live in Thornhill. Your executive encourages you to speak up and let the Planners know that the land the that the Rod and Gun club and Archery club occupy is best suited to be used for community recreation and not developed as another residential subdivision.
