Name: Deborah Judd on Jun 3, 2007Comments: As Orange High School tennis coach, I would like to say it is critical to get the courts resurfaced or we will no longer be able to have a tennis program at the school. As it is now, most other schools are requesting not to play at our courts. Please act now before programs, both school and recreational, are forced to terminate. Thanks, DeborahFlag

Name: Britton Webb on Jun 3, 2007Comments: These courts are embarassing to the school, the town, and all tennis players that have to play on them. I played number 1 for the Orange High tennis team and went on to become State Runner-up my senior year, and am now playing at Appalachian State. I have been injured many times on these courts, and I have seen others injure themselves as well. It is amazing to me how long this project has been put aside, but as tennis grows in Hillsborough, which it is, safety should be atop the list. The way the courts are now, it's almost as if you're taking a risk just to play on them. They are slick, they don't have lines in spots, they have slight rises and falls in elevation, and the lights only work on occasion but not very well and are rusty. The tennis courts at Orange High School are embarassing and this community deserves better!Flag

Name: Julia Chauvin on Jun 3, 2007Comments: We need this. Have you seen the public courts Really The lights are often out and/or don't stay on. There are large pits on the courts and the nets...oh the nets....Wait...what nets This doesn't affect OHS or the school board, except to make a positive change. Why has this not happened yetFlag

Name: Richard Greenway on Jun 3, 2007Comments: When we moved here nine years ago, I called the rec department and asked about tennis court locations. The lady on the phone literally laughed...and then said you can play at Orange High. The Orange High courts are a gift and a much needed draw for our community! Please, please give them the attention they need and deserve.Flag

Name: Carrie A. McCann on Jun 3, 2007Comments: I play weekly on the Orange HS courts. Renovating the courts is imperative as they are dangerous in the current poor condition. We cannot use the courts for League play which means we must be on a Durham USTA team vs. a local team.Flag

Name: Millie Hunter on Jun 3, 2007Comments: Please help fund the restoration of the tennis courts at Orange High. They are the only public courts in the community and, of course, serve the OHS boys and girls' tennnis teams. It is embarrasing to have teams come to OHS and have to play on such poor courts. They are not only unsightly, they are dangerous. It is wonderful to have 8 courts but they must be resurfaced soon, before injuries occury. thanks,Millie HunterFlag

Name: Laurie W. Lee on Jun 3, 2007Comments: yes !! Full Renovation is needed ........and as quickly as possible!! There are many groups of tennis players/students who would instantly benefit from a renovation...and certainly a significant number of new players would be attracted by improved facilitiesFlag

Name: Diane Schmidt on Jun 3, 2007Comments: I support new tennis courts for those who play in Hillsborough and northern Orange County. As a senior who loves to play, though with knee problems, I would love to see some soft surface courts available.Flag

Name: Donna Webb on Jun 3, 2007Comments: Please show the support to the youth and citizens of our county who are trying to better themselves physically and mentally by supporting the renovations of the Orange High tennis courts. Tennis has grown by leaps and bounds in Northern Orange County in the past 2 years. We need to show the people of Northern Orange that we value their wellbeing by providing them with a safe place to play. Thank you for your consideration of this very important matter.Flag

Name: Eva Kennedy on Jun 3, 2007Comments: I have watched many tennis matches since my grandson is an accomplished tennis player now playing tennis for ASU. I was embarrassed when visiting schools came to OHS to play due to the conditions of the court. The Cardinal Gibbons coach even asked for the OHS team to come to Raleigh to play the home match against them because they did not want to play on the OHS courts due to the condition. Being an Orange County resident for over 60 years I believe the citizens of Northern Orange County, both young and old deserve a better place to play tennis then the only public courts available to them at this time. I hope you will find the funds to renovate the tennis courts at Orange HIgh to make them safe. This facility is well overdue for a face lift.Flag
