Name: Loretta Hollings on Feb 6, 2013Comments: Hilton has a moral responsibility not to engage in putting and animal's survival in jeopardy, especially sharks, since sharks' numbers have shown a deep decline due to this horrific practice! There is a global outcry for this egregious practice to stop now. Hilton needs to completely ban this item from all your restaurants in the West, and in the Far East too. If you don't do this, many people all over the world including myself will boycott Hilton.Flag

Name: Paul Crooks on Feb 7, 2013Comments: Quite a number of corporations have ceased serving, buying, transporting, trading or possessing fins; Hotel chains, Airlines, Super/Hyper markets, online sales platforms and of course, restaurants. They do-so with small economic loss and business interruption - comparatively - when realising the future cumulative impacts and increased costs, as well as their reputation when at a later date, the situation has worsened. The fin trade - its implications and impacts - is not a debate, it is a terrible reality. Every serving contributes to the reality of likely mass-depletions or extinctions. Millions of Asians, especially 18 to 35 year-old's, are finished with fins... Your decision to cease serving fin soup will have extremely little impact on those whom utilise Hilton Hotels, and those who "can't live without fins" who might forward an ultimatum to boycott Hilton obviously are disrespectful to others, and indeed to Hilton's corporate responsibilities. These persons would simply be replaced by any of the thousands of persons unable to utilise your hotels - due to The Hilton being booked out. Logical, progressive, responsible, laudable, reputable - sustainable.Flag

Name: Phil Cook on Feb 8, 2013Comments: To be part of a solution is to NOT be part of a problem: The number of threatened shark species has risen from just 1 in 1984 to 15 in 1996 to more than 180 in 2011. This is largely contributing to poor and collapsed ecosystem functions, generating income and profits throughout the illegal fishing conglomerate and combined illegal trade, trafficking and terrorism groups. To be part of the solution is to not even buy fins, thereby having no menu listing for fin soup, as well as fin soup being unavailable to those wanting to order off-menu; it is these persons being either ignorant or disrespectful of "our" environment and ecosystem functions, as well as knowingly or inadvertently lending their support to illegal trade, trafficking and terrorism - contributing to these problems of which The Hilton are part of and seemingly supportive of, such that can only be deemed corporate and social irresponsibility. Responsibly, The Hilton must become part of solution.Flag
