Tell Harvey Weinstein NOT to Ruin SNOWPIERCER for the West

140 Signatures Goal: 10,000

Harvey Weinstein recently told Bong Joon-ho that he needed to cut 20 minutes off of the 2 hour run-time of SNOWPIERCER before he'd release it in the West because he thinks audiences in the US Midwest are too stupid to understand it. More info here: http://twitchfilm.com/2013/08/weinstein-thinks-you-are-too-dumb-for-snowpiercer.html This has been one of the most anticipated movies of the year for many cineastes, and we were so close to being able to finally see it, in all its post-apocalyptic glory. The early buzz is already pouring high praise upon it, but the buzz is also saying that it's a sleek, fine-tuned machine. Bong spent a long time in post-production on this film to make sure it was perfect before releasing it. It even missed its premiere at Cannes because he wasn't done tweaking and cinching it yet. And now, Harvey Weinstein wants to come along, and with the wave of a hand, demand that Bong cut 20 minutes so that his stereotype of stupid, ol' Middle America can understand it. So rise up film lovers, and help us take the engine! Sign this petition and help us say "No!" to being treated like back-of-the-train-dwelling morons!

Aren't we supposed to be a country about freedom of speech? Way to go Weinstein.

If Harvey Weinstein even put one finger on the 126-minute version of SNOWPIERCER, I will never, EVER watch any of the films that Harvey will produce or executive produce in the future. It just goes to show that William Goldman is absolutely right about his famous quote - 'In Hollywood, NOBODY knows ANYTHING'.
