The Daily Telegraph -- with the support of Royal Life Saving Australia and St John Ambulance -- has begun a campaign for compulsory certified CPR training in all NSW high schools.

Our campaign is being launched amid a summer of record near-drownings.
Fifty-four people -- almost half of them children -- have been saved since the start of January in NSW. A further 2000 people have been rescued from the state's beaches since Christmas.

The cost of CPR training is not excessive -- as little as $25 each for Year 7 students and $10 a year after that for a refresher course.

As such, we the signatories to this petition call on NSW Education Minister Adrian Piccoli and federal School Education Minister Peter Garrett to introduce compulsory certified CPR training in NSW high schools from this year.
